Trunk Bay Beach – Getting There
Our visit to Trunk Bay Beach on St John’s USVI was fabulous but all too short. We took an organized tour from the harbor on St Thomas. It started with the ”Island Girl” ferry to Cruz Bay. We passed the homes of many famous movie stars, like Kevin Costner, on the voyage. To save on organized tour fees, you can take a cab to the St Thomas public ferry landing, where local ferries run every half hour. Then at Cruz Bay on St John, you will find cab rides readily available to take you to the Trunk Bay Beach.
Trunk Bay Beach – Great Fun
After the ferry arrived at Cruz Bay, we took a short open air truck/bus past Caneel Bay to Trunk Bay. The bay was closed to snorkeling that day due to high swells, but it was still calm, sunny and wonderful. We walked the length of the sandy beach and then staked claim to a shady spot on our own section of beach. The surf was very tame and we enjoyed the cool refreshing waters. The surf did finally knock my wife down though. She was spinning around like clothes in a washing machine. She was fine, but I guess that’s why they had closed the beach to snorkeling that day. We also saw iguanas and deer at the beach. Trunk Bay was great fun and I wished I could have stayed several days. The afternoon visit was over way too soon.
