Visit India – Plan Your Trip
Best Time of Year to Visit India
As one of the largest countries in the world, India has many different types of climates. The Thar Desert is located in the northwest of the country. The northern areas touch up against the Himalayas. The Himalayas produce abundant water and rivers that then flow across the grasslands to their south. In southern India, temperatures and humidity increase. So does the risk of flooding during the heavy rainfall of its summer monsoons.
Avoid the months of April through June if you don’t want to experience average daily highs in excess of 100 F. Temperatures cool somewhat during the monsoon season from July through September. We like October / November as the best time of year to visit India, because the temperatures are more reasonable and the monsoons are over. Also, it’s the best time to visit because you can see the Diwali Festival celebrations.
