The best time for tourist to visit Canada is during the summer months of July and August, because the weather is comfortable then. For winter sports, January and February are best.
Canada Visa Requirements
Canada has a long list of countries that require a visa and a long list of countries that are exempt. Visitors from the United States do not require a visa.
Canadian Snowbird Travel to the US
In 2025 the US administration started requiring Canadian’s who visit the US for more than 30 days to register as an alien. The registration form I-94 can be found on the US Customs and Border Protection website.
Canadian “Loonie” Currency
The Canadian dollar is the official currency of Canada. The US dollar is often accepted near ports of entry for air or cruise ship. The Canadian one dollar coin is called the “loonie”, because the coin has a loon on one face. When the two dollar coin came out, the name “twonie” then caught on.
Canadian Languages
Canada’s two official languages are English and French. French is most commonly spoken in the province of Québec. Canada also acknowledges First Nations languages and sometimes produces signage in native languages.
