Visit Niagara Falls

When you visit Niagara falls, you can do so from two towns named Niagara Falls – one in Canada and the other in the United States. The two towns are on opposite sides of the Niagara River. There are 3 waterfalls to see when you visit Niagara Falls. The waterfalls are the Horseshoe (Canadian), the American and the Bridal Veil Falls. All the islands at the falls are all located in the United States.

Visit Niagara Falls – Maid of the Mist

In the summer, the most popular attraction at Niagara Falls is the Maid of the Mist. You can catch the Maid of the Mist from either the US or Canada to enjoy close up and extremely wet views of the falls. The departures from either country avoids the need for a border crossing. Plastic rain gear is provided and you will need it. The Maid of the Mist goes so close to the Horseshoe Falls that you will get drenched by the mist.

Visit Niagara Falls – Canadian Side

Stroll the riverfront walkway from Clifton Hill to Table Rock for views of the American Falls, Bridal Veil Falls and the Canadian Horseshoe Falls. Along the way, stop at the Bird Kingdom too. The Canadian side enjoys the best views of the falls. You will also get great views of the Maid of the Mist fleet in operation. In summer, you can catch a double decker bus on the riverfront walkway. The double decker bus ride goes along the Niagara River south of the falls.

If you want to change sides of the river, take the Rainbow Bridge border crossing or book a tour of both sides of Niagara Falls. Fly over the falls in a helicopter with Niagara Helicopters. Try the Grand Helicopter Tour. Don’t miss the evening summer fireworks shows at the falls.

Table Rock

The Horseshoe Falls press right up against Table Rock in Canada, where you can get a few feet away from the river disappearing over the edge of the falls. At the Table Rock Welcome Center you will find a visitor center, souvenir shop and cafeteria. You can also go on the Journey Behind the Falls. You enter a tunnel for the Journey Behind the Falls and then you can peek out of the tunnel at the base of the falls. Not quite as impressive as the Maid of the Mist voyage, though. This attraction is open throughout the winter too.

From Table Rock you can also take a short funicular ride on the Niagara Falls Incline Railway to the Canadian hotels on the ridge overlooking Niagara Falls. Visit the Fallsview Casino Resort and ride up the Skylon Tower.

Along the Niagara River – Canadian Side

A short distance down river from the falls you can pay to walk along the Niagara River on the White Water Walk. Take an elevator down to the river’s edge and stroll along the boardwalk beside the Class 6 Niagara River rapids. The walkway ends just up stream from the Niagara Whirlpool. The White Water Walk is not open in winter.

Cross over the Niagara Whirlpool in the Whirlpool Aero Car or take a jet boat ride here. The Niagara Whirlpool is located downstream from the falls and the rapids. This attraction is closed in winter.

Marineland – one mile from the town on the Canadian side. The 450 foot high Sky Screamer has distant views of the falls as you plunge back to earth.

Visit Niagara Falls – Hotels

Embassy Suites by Hilton – likely the best views of the Horseshoe Canadian falls, plus large rooms and a Keg restaurant. The Presidential Suites with corner views to the American and Canadian falls are fabulous.

Marriott Niagara Falls Fallsview Hotel and Spa – great views of the Horseshoe Canadian falls, plus dining with views of the falls.
