The smallest of the US Virgin Islands is a short ferry ride away. Take a Trunk Bay Snorkel Day Trip which includes a ferry ride over to the dock at Cruz Bay. Two thirds of the island of St John is a national park. Trunk Bay, Caneel Bay and the Annaberg Sugar Mill ruins are favorite tourist sites.

You can fly in to Cyril E King Airport on St Thomas, but most people visit by cruise ship. There are two cruise ship docks near Charlotte Amalie on the island of St Thomas. One is at the West Indian Company Dock in Havensight. The other is at the Crown Bay dock in Subbase.

Visit the U.S. Virgin Islands – Background
St Thomas, St John and St Croix form the US Virgin Islands, a territory of the United States. The islands were purchased from the Dutch in 1917. Due to the Dutch influence, this is the only territory of the U.S. where they drive on the left hand side of the road. Most of the vehicles have the steering wheel on the left though, which makes driving a challenge. The U.S Virgin Islands are about 50 miles east of Puerto Rico. St Thomas is the largest island, but it’s only 13 miles long and 4 miles wide. Light rainfall is common in any month, but you can expect more than 5 inches of rainfall each month from September to November. St Thomas has a permanent population of about 55,000.
