Visit Trinidad & Tobago – Port of Spain
- Woodford Square is surrounded by the Red House (Parliament Building), the Hall of Justice, the National Library, City Hall and Trinity Cathedral.
- Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception, Independence Square.
- Queen’s Park Savannah is a 260 acre public park, a mile north of Woodford Square. See the Magnificent Seven. They are 7 colonial mansions on Maraval Road.
- The Royal Botanic Gardens are adjacent to Queen’s Park Savannah and includes the Prime Minister’s House.
- Lady Young Lookout has views over Port of Spain.
- Carnival in Port of Spain. It’s busy starting at Christmas, with peak activity at Lent.
- About an hour from Port of Spain, you will find the Asa Wright Nature Centre and Maracas Beach. Drive through the Santa Cruz Valley and see the cocoa and coffee plantations.

Visit Trinidad & Tobago – See Tobago
- Pigeon Point and Parlatuvier Bay are popular tourist destinations. Take a Glass Bottom Boat Cruise at Pigeon Point and swim in the shallow waters of the Nylon Pool.
- Snorkeling at Buccoo Reef – gain access at Pigeon Point, Buccoo Bay or Store Bay.
- Visit the fishing village of Speyside. Go diving or take a boat to the bird sanctuary on the island of Little Tobago.
- Visit Fort King George for a historical perspective on this island that has been possessed by so many nations.
- Hike through the Tobago Forest Reserve to Argyle Falls. It’s located between Roxborough and Parlatuvier Bay.
- Richmond Great House – sugar plantation visit.
- Have lunch in a a sea-grape tree at Jemma’s Tree House in Speyside, Tobago.

Visit Trinidad & Tobago – Background
Trinidad and Tobago are two separate islands forming one country at the extreme southeastern edge of the Caribbean. The capital of the country is Port of Spain on Trinidad, which is a much larger island than Tobago. Trinidad is less than 10 miles from the mainland of South America and Venezuela. Columbus arrived here in 1498 and claimed the islands for Spain. It has subsequently belonged to a number of nations, including Britain, France and the Dutch. The islands gained independence in the 1960s. Trinidad & Tobago claim the rights to a number of Caribbean traditions including Carnival, the limbo and calypso music played on a steelpan. Trinidad is known for its busy nature while Tobago prides itself on being laid back.

Trinidad & Tobago Weather
Trinidad & Tobago are south of the Caribbean hurricane belt. They experience a dry season from January to May and a rainy season for the rest of the year. The rainy season typically has brief but heavy rain showers and high humidity. Temperatures are fairly constant throughout the year. Expect average highs of 86 F (30 C) and average lows of 77 F (25 C).
Visit Trinidad & Tobago – Transportation
Piarco International Airport ({POS) is the international air access point to Trinidad, while and Tobago Airport (TAB) services Tobago. There are also inter-island flights. Several ferries connect the two islands via Port of Spain and Scarborough. A few cruise ships visit Port of Spain, but Trinidad & Tobago are not on the standard cruise ship circuit. Most likely the cruise ship visits are not frequent because it the farthest distance away from a US port of any Caribbean island.
